Parker Hannifin is a Fortune 250 global leader in motion and control technologies, generating more than $12 billion in annual sales. For over a century, Parker has supported industrial, manufacturing and aerospace clients around the world with high-performance engineering solutions. Despite operating on a vast global scale, their warehouse operations were still reliant on a legacy Windows Mobile scanning system that was increasingly difficult to support.

The company approached New Media Aid to modernise its handheld scanning technology, replacing the outdated Windows Mobile environment with a future-proof Android-based platform. The new system needed to function flawlessly across worldwide warehouse locations while integrating tightly with Parker’s complex Oracle JD Edwards ERP and EDI workflows.

Replacing Legacy Windows Mobile with a Modern Android Solution

We designed and built a fully bespoke Android application optimised for rugged handheld barcode scanners used by Parker’s warehouse staff across Europe, Asia and the Americas. The new app supports rapid scanning of components, assemblies and packaging units, ensuring that stock movements are captured accurately and in real time.

Unlike the legacy system, the new Android app communicates with a custom REST API and a cloud-based web application, enabling seamless two-way synchronisation with Parker’s existing JD Edwards environment. Warehouse staff can now scan items in and out for just-in-time replenishment, with all data immediately reflected inside the global ERP system.

Global Warehouse Integration with Oracle JD Edwards

The bespoke API layer we developed ensures robust, secure integration between the Android devices, the central web application and Parker’s Oracle JD Edwards infrastructure. This gives operations teams full visibility of stock levels, replenishment cycles and inventory movement across sites worldwide.

The solution is now used extensively throughout Parker’s international warehouse network, including distribution centres serving clients in London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex and across the wider UK and Europe.

A Scalable, Future-Proof Enterprise Platform

By replacing an obsolete Windows Mobile application with a unified Android, API and web-based system, Parker Hannifin now benefits from:

This project demonstrates how tailored mobile and web software can streamline high-volume industrial operations for global enterprises operating in London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex and beyond.
