Dry Cargo International (DCi) is the only monthly publication dedicated entirely to the dry bulk industry. Read by senior executives, analysts and key decision-makers worldwide, DCi is recognised as the leading source of global market intelligence for dry commodity shipping, logistics and industrial operations.
The magazine’s success stems from its ability to deliver accurate, comprehensive and timely information in a highly specialised sector. To support this, DCi required a digital platform capable of managing content, subscriptions, advertising and archive access for its international readership.
Bespoke Digital Publishing and Subscription Management System
New Media Aid designed and developed a fully bespoke mobile-friendly eCommerce and subscription platform to help DCi modernise its digital presence. The solution enables editorial staff to create, edit and publish news content quickly through an intuitive content management interface.
Readers can purchase subscriptions directly through the integrated eCommerce system, while administrators can manage customer details, renewals, payment status and access rights. This ensures that only active subscribers can view protected or premium content.
Controlled User Access & Secure Content Delivery
The platform includes a robust user-access control system that allows DCi to selectively grant or restrict access to specific content categories or premium features. This is essential for a publication that serves corporate subscribers and professionals across London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex and international markets.
Administrators can fine-tune access based on subscription level, ensuring a seamless experience for paying members while maintaining revenue protection for restricted content.
Advertising Management and Time-Limited Web Banners
To support DCi’s advertising revenue, we developed a time-based banner management module. Editorial and commercial teams can upload promotional banners, define their display duration and track performance. Banners automatically expire once their campaign period ends, eliminating the need for constant manual oversight.
Online Archive with Keyword Search
A key feature of the new system is the online magazine archive, where past issues can be uploaded and accessed by subscribers. We implemented a fast, intuitive keyword search engine that allows readers to locate relevant articles, reports and market analysis across years of publications.
This archive is a valuable tool for researchers, analysts and executives needing historical insight into the global dry bulk market.
A Complete Digital Ecosystem for a Global Industry Publication
The platform delivers a comprehensive solution for DCi, offering:
- Mobile-friendly news publishing and CMS tools
- Integrated eCommerce and subscription management
- Selective user access controls for premium content
- Time-limited advertising banner management
- Searchable archive of digital magazine issues
This bespoke system has helped Dry Cargo International modernise its digital infrastructure, supporting readers and advertisers across London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex and the global dry bulk industry.
