BAE Systems Regional Aircraft required a secure, centralised bespoke web application to support global teams overseeing multi-million-pound commercial aircraft leases. The platform brought together sales leads, fleet availability, documentation and reporting into one system.
Their teams were located across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, each managing prospects, contract negotiations and technical data. The goal was to consolidate scattered processes into a unified, secure system accessible worldwide.
Business Requirements
The organisation needed a platform to manage:
- Sales leads and global opportunity pipeline
- Prospect and account management
- Sales team performance reporting
- Fleet availability and idle-aircraft status
- Technical document storage per aircraft
- Role-based global access
- Disaster recovery and strong data protection
Solution
New Media Aid developed a secure, enterprise-grade bespoke web application using C#, integrated with an MS SQL Server database and hosted on a hardened Windows Datacentre environment.
The application provided:
- Global, secure access with role-based permissions
- CRM-style lead and prospect management
- Fleet availability dashboards
- Technical document storage and retrieval
- Performance and utilisation reporting
- Documented disaster recovery processes
- Optional source code escrow for risk mitigation
Results
The system delivered significant improvements across BAE’s aircraft leasing division:
- Centralised and consistent sales pipeline visibility
- Improved productivity for global business development staff
- Faster access to technical documentation during negotiations
- Clear reporting for management decision-making
- Robust disaster recovery and data protection compliance
Although the system was later replaced following leadership changes and a move toward a SaaS platform, it ran successfully for many years and provided substantial operational value.
The lessons from this project continue to inform how I approach .NET migrations, secure global access, SQL Server performance tuning and multi-team workflows today.
Project Summary
- Custom CRM & fleet availability system
- Global secure access architecture
- Aircraft document management
- Business development reporting
- Disaster recovery planning
