Continued strong uptake of 5G shows that demand for high-performance connectivity remains resilient, despite ongoing global economic challenges. To date, more than 40 communications service providers have deployed or launched 5G standalone (SA) in public networks, but the rollout is far from complete.

5G mid-band is on the rise, with population coverage reaching 30 percent outside mainland China by the end of 2023, while overall 5G subscriptions are increasing in every region. Despite this global 5G growth, our forecast exploring sustainability in ICT shows that carbon footprint per subscription has not risen.
